Opening track to the album of the same name. Wrote this song whilst driving on the Fosse Way to a gig last year. Moments earlier a car had veered off the road, hit a tree and was in a blaze as the driver, rescued, looked on in disbelief.
I don't know if there were others so lucky, but I hope I am wrong. Tragic tale which stayed with me for weeks and later had me looking into the history of one of Britain oldest roads. The Western Frontier as the Romans thought of it. This record is my very own Western frontier, as the sun sets in the West awaiting a new dawn in life as a new season unfolds.
lyrics
Burning out on the fosse way,
I've got one thing on my mind.
Foot to the floor on the fosse way,
How could you be so unkind.
I saw a soul, standing there,
Watching his whole life flash by.
Burning out on the fosse way when you,
Leave your love behind.
Driving north on the fosse way,
You pass a south bound love affair.
It's hard to judge on the fosse way,
When there's sadness in the air
That look on your face, seemed so clear,
Soon to cry a thousand tears.
Drivings hard on the fosse way now you
Live your life in fear.
It's never easy to recall that fatal scene
You're gonna have to wake yourself up from this dream
I saw a soul, standing there.
Loves are lost on the fosse way and you,
Know it's so unfair.
