After ten years of experiencing London and disillusioned with multi-culturalism, I headed to the Gloucestershire hills for some solace and to write my album. I love London, but the PTB force us into such ridiculous working regimes it's almost impossible to survive and be creative unless your'e incredibly lucky or live in a squat!
I think this makes us extremely unhappy and secular, not so much in a religious but spiritual way. Money is the illusion and love is the wealth. The kids are the first to feel its destructive power.
lyrics
Is that a river foaming blood,
From a knife in a childs hand.
Your religion must be so good,
That you'd want to hurt your fellow man.
And I want far from this madding crowd,
And all the gangs that hang aound
I'll never live in little England,
You know my worlds much bigger than that.
Take the cultures I am given,
Come round our house at the drop of a hat.
And it takes more that a song or a verse,
To feel the love and lift the curse.
Could I ever be so lucky to hear hearts beating to a rhythm in Siren Town
In the Glenns and the Valleys and the streets.
Be one in this great land.
Well I don't hear nothin' but the beat of my heart,
Right here in Siren Town.
And in the blink of an eye i'll be free, to turn my world around.
Don't take me for being a fool.
I'm not really out of touch.
I'm not sayin' anything cruel.
You know that you mean too much.
Could I ever be so lucky to hear hearts beating to a rhythm in Siren Town
In the Glenns and the Valleys and the streets.
Be one in this great land.
Well I don't hear nothin' but the beat of my heart,
Right here in Siren Town.
And in the blink of an eye i'll be free to turn my world around.
